Drawing: Observation and Imagination - LIVE ONLINE DRAWING CLASS

This intensively structured course will open students to the possibilities of drawing from observation and imagination, true to each individual’s own experience. Students will draw from a number of observational sources in their homes, alongside learning how to source imagery from their interior selves. Each week will focus on aspects of composition, narrative, colour, emotion, editing and mark-making, always investigating how these more formal concerns contribute to the imaginative strength of an image. Mapping: Drawing Internal Landscapes – LIVE ONLINE DRAWING CLASS

• Thursdays from 24th October 2024 to 21st November 2024
• 5 sessions
• 10am – 5pm

This course will look at early maps as poetic templates that can be interpreted and transformed into personal inner landscapes. Visions of the world are brought to life by symbols of land, city, rivers and ocean. Other maps such as cosmos maps, sea charts and dream maps will also be looked at and could offer alternative ways of using mapping as a way of drawing.
