Inspired by National Portrait Gallery's BP Portrait Award and the theme of family in several winning entries, Art Macabre presented a clan of curious characters to capture in your own portraits. A macabre circus family posed together in a series of tableaux. This salon explored the power of composition, costume and mementoes to tell stories and reveal secrets about the people portrayed. Fresh from their appearance at Standon Calling festival, the 'Circus of Skeletons' and the Suitcase Menagerie, a family of dejected and rejected characters considered too freakish even for the sideshow visited the store.

Art Macabre Drawing Salons take over Cass Art, London’s largest art store every month for a series of after hours, playful and relaxed, alternative life drawing events. Grab an artistic weapon of choice and come and make some killer marks as each salon explores a different deadly theme through the nude human form, costume, props and multi–media.
