For the Art Outside event, artists and members of the general public were invited to create masterpieces on a giant outdoor easel situated on London’s Tottenham Court Road. The idea was conceived by Sir John Hegarty, Founder of BBH and the aim was to give artists and the general public a new platform to showcase their work and was an opportunity to identify the talent of tomorrow. On the 10th September some Cass Art staff members had the privilege of having one of the first guided tours of Tony Cragg at Exhibiton Roadby the curator, Claire Shea, from the Cass Sculpture Foundation. Claire explained the thought and the construction processes behind each of these five magnificent pieces along Exhibition Road. Tony Cragg’s sensitivity to different materials is and has been the starting point for each of his pieces of work.
