Last year saw a great success with critics such as Wallpaper magazine celebrating the 'impressive scope', building on these foundations for 2014 there's an expected 35,000 visitors and 5000 VIPS. It's easy to see why, featuring a vast array of international artists and pieces, for one weekend only the global artistic community inhabits London. From Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and of course closer to home in Europe, there's something for everyone which is why Art14 London is ideal for started your own collection or finding your niche.
We've taken a look at Art14 London's list of who not to miss at this year's fair and selected some of the most exciting artists on display. From the collection of contemporary Indonesian art, Ronald Manullang is most certainly a highlight, his hyper realist style portrays political and celebrity icons often in comprising arrangements. Most of his work is exquisitely detailed oil on canvas, although at first glance the vivid colours and patterns might lead you to think this was collage.
Shanghai native Zhang Lehua represented by the Vanguard Gallery demonstrates his witty commentary on the complexities of Chinese culture through a range of old style publicity board paintings using marker pen on canvas. Other works include experimentations with gouache, and a profound technique of ironing photographs before painting them.
Gordon Chenug, from the Edel Assanti is a London based artist who uses a vast array of materials including spray paint, oils, acrylics and pastels. As well as these, Art14 London sees his vivid animations come to life in neon colours and a slick graphic style.
