Exhibition Evenings: January 2014
Have you heard of Exhibition Evenings yet? If you haven’t, let us fill you in. Founded by Arjun Harrison-Mann, second year graphic design student at Central Saint Martins, and fellow undergraduate friends, Exhibition Evenings promises a monthly instalment of student pieces for your viewing pleasure. This free exhibition is run by students for students to showcase their creative talents and create a sense of community in London. Arjun receives applications throughout the month and then he and his team select five hopefuls with styles that sit well alongside each other. This month at House Gallery, Camberwell featured ….
Stephanie Kane, Fashion Illustration student at London College of Fashion and her beautiful portraits. Stephanie uses a mixture of oils and acrylics and an awesome colour palette that makes her work alluring.
Frederick Hoffman studies Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts and we have it on record that he is one to watch! Already selling his t-shirt designs online and creating wonderful drawings with pen and ink. The larger than life-size illustrations on display were made on lengths of wallpaper.
Hansika Jethnani is a Photography student at London College of Communication, she uses both analogue and digital cameras and debuted her current college project, which explores society's preconceptions of beauty. Direct close-ups of what we all consider imperfections on the body deliberately make the viewer question their own meaning of beauty.
Also studying Photography but at London College of Fashion, Argiel Del Mundo has a keen eye. He explores different time periods and contrasts them with our modern day living. With muted colour tones but extreme detail and a real knack for capturing movement in a still image, Argiel's finesse is worth checking out.
Giulia Parlato uses a Rolleiflex medium format camera to capture her beautiful images. Both shots are from separate projects but it's her honed style that brings them together so well. Framed in a square rather than your standard A size, this portraiture gives a stunning insight into the people in Giulia's life. She studies at London College of Communication too.
