London Design Festival begins this weekend, with thousands of London spots offering exhibitions, workshops and things to see. Cass Art has partnered with London Design Festival on a number of workshops this weekend

To kick-start your weekend, we've chosen our top three to try this weekend:

Type Tasting with London Design Festival

1. Try type tasting at the V&A

We're in full type tasting fever at Cass Art (holding an event at Islington last month) so we are providing materials for free drop in workshops at the V&A on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September.

The workshops will be led by Sarah Hyndham who has worked in the design industry for 15 years. The workshops will take you back to your creative roots and give you the opportunity to get away from a computer and explore a new way to create type. A complete convert said this of Sarah's recent workshop: “It’s great that even those who are mostly desk-bound professionally can try their hand at something creative without the fear of looking daft or not being good enough.”

For more information and to find out how to get there, head to the London Design Festival event page.

Cafe Smug at London Design Festival

2. Take some time out at Cafe Smug

If you're in the mood for a spot of shopping along Camden Antiques Passage in Islington, en route to our Islington store, don't miss the launch of Cafe Smug. Set in the quirky lifestyle store, Smug, which sells homeware and accessories alongside fantastic vintage furniture.

Expect fresh coffee, juice, croissants, cake and cookie of the day.

For more information about the cafe and its activities visit the Cafe Smug page on the London Design Festival website.

Moleskine Sketchathon

3. Become a superstar sketcher with a Moleskine Sketchathon

London Design Festival have partnered with the marvelous Moleskine for a sketching and drawing free drop in masterclass. This event too will take place at the V&A, as they continue their collaboration with the world's leading museum of art and design.

If you can't wait until midday on Saturday 14 September (running until 5pm) then you can download our Pick up a Pen challenge here.

To get set for the sketchathon read more on the Moleskine page of the LDF website.
