past event: Open For Entries: The Batsford Prize 2016

by Cass Art

This competition has now ended. To find out about our current events please refer to our competitions page

Batsford is a publishing house founded in 1843. Its standing as a leading publisher in the areas of fashion, design and textile art encouraged the creation of The Batsford Prize- an annual competition for creative undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Now in its fourth year, The Batsford Prize offers three cash prizes of £500, over the categories of art, fashion and illustration. Cass Art are supporting the prize for the first time in 2016 with an additional prize of £500 for the overall winner across all three disciplines. In addition to prize money, winners and runner-ups in each category can also get their hands on £50 worth of Batsford books.

Applications are welcome from students of art, fashion, illustration and all related fields.

The Batsford Prize 2016

The theme of this year’s Batsford Prize is ‘Reuse, Recycle, Reclaim’. Entries should reflect the desire and need to reuse and recycle materials- to reclaim what is discarded and give it a new life. An element of the work could include the reuse of old ideas and techniques that have been discarded too. The last day for entries is Monday 4 April 2016.
