Record Store Day launched in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2013 will see the sixth celebration of the UK's unique independent stores on Saturday 20th April. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl, CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Cass Art's Soho store in Berwick Street is situated amidst an amazing hub of independent record stores. In order to celebrate our musical location we decided to get in on the action by running a competition for customers to draw their favourite record cover for a chance to win a Cass Art tote bag full of creative materials. The 'Top Ten’ record covers won prizes from Cass Art. Artists can take inspiration from classic vinyl covers from years gone by in order to recreate their own version. The whole of Berwick Street was closed for Record Store Day as there were live performances throughout the day in the street. You can find out more about World Record Store Day by visiting the official website.
Please note the competition is now closed.
