Pintar Rapido London is the UK's biggest plein air (outdoor) painting festival, competition and exhibition. A weekend celebration of art and the London cityscape. It is open to professional and non-professional artists and it inspires hundreds of them to create a picture from start to finish in a day. The following day the public can view and buy these unique visions of London at the Pintar Rapido exhibition.
Artist Jessica Biggs attended Pintar Rapido for the last two years and really enjoyed this very well organised event. It's a unique opportunity to make new artist friends and exhibit in central London. She recalls the event in London last year:
'After registration, I head out into Chelsea, some artists are braving the Kings Road, engulfed by Saturday shoppers, some have tucked themselves into the quiet back streets of Chelsea, the river is definitely a favourite location, I aim for the shade of Battersea Park and set up my easel to paint the band stand.
It's always tough painting outdoors, with the light changing and many distractions but that's part of the challenge that makes the day so exciting. Lots of friendly passers-by come to look at my watercolour, I'm using Arches block 300 GSM rough, W&N Artist's watercolour 24 half pan set and W&N Bristol watercolour easel. The general public are delighted to come across so many painters all on one day.
Time passes very quickly when painting, and soon it's time to head back to the town hall. Everyone is busily framing their work ready to hang in the exhibition.
Hundreds of people come to visit the exhibition on Sunday, it's great to wander around and see what views the artists tackled. All the work whether beginner or professional has captured the atmosphere of the day. The brush marks are fresh and lively and there is a big variety of mediums.

I can't wait for this year’s event, I've been working on my oils so I'm going to be brave and try a landscape in oil this time. I'm going to use Ampersand Gessobord, a mix of Michael Harding and Winsor and Newton Artists’ Oils. The event is open to all levels so come along and join in this super weekend!
