This year The Big Draw runs from 1st October to 3rd November and spans over 15 countries with over 1000 events. This year Cass Art is working with The Unicorn Theatre based in London Bridge to run a variety of free workshops all day this Sunday, 27th October.
The Unicorn Theatre will invite everyone to ‘sign in’ with a thumb or hand print on their visitor’s wall before changing them into artwork. As well as entertaining guests with performances by two of the theatres’ current productions. ‘Dora the Storer’ will be aimed at ages 4+ and runs at 11am while ‘Henry the fifth’ is a special adaption of Shakespeare’s play aimed at ages 8+ although both productions require you to book online.
The aim of the event is to be spontaneous, to laugh, to be creative and to learn a new value for drawing. If you can’t attend one of their events you can still join in online through Access Art, winners of the NADFAS Drawing Inspiration Award 2012.
The Big Draw launched in 2000 and since then it has supported the Campaign for Drawing’s aims by encouraging everyone to draw. Last year Cass Art ran a similar event with The Unicorn Theatre which was a huge success and ran a free workshop at The Hampstead School of Art in 2012.
The Unicorn Theatre is at 147 Tooley Street, SE1 2HZ and the event runs from 11am – 5pm and is free to join. You can learn about more events by The Big draw by going to their blog and twitter. Cass Art is also running Kids Workshops an you can find out more on our workshop page.
