The Other Art Fair 2013 - Special Ticket Offer

The UK's largest artist-led fair, The Other Art Fair takes place next weekend. On the 17th October, The Old Truman Brewery will host both TOAF and Moniker Art Fair, together for the first time under one roof. We've been chatting to Director Ryan Stanier in the lead up to the fair to see what is in store.
What is TOAF’s mission?
"The fair has a dual mission: to support emerging artistic practice and to connect visitors directly with artists.
The fair is a unique platform from which artists can independently showcase their work. In addition to selling artworks, these four days enable artists to launch their work in the contemporary art world, gauge the public’s response to their pieces and meet fellow artists for potential future collaborations. The Other Art Fair is also unique in its approach to supporting artists. We support them throughout the year by offering free seminars and workshops, the opportunity to sell online and connecting individuals with companies and associations.
At the fair, visitors can meet, discuss and buy from artists who have been carefully selected by our esteemed panel of experts. By purchasing artwork at the fair, visitors are directly supporting emerging artistic talent and contributing to the growing opportunities for these undiscovered artists."
Which artists are you particularly proud to host this year?
"This October we have a particularly high standard of work being exhibited due to the ever-increasing number of artist applications we receive (just under 500) and the growing reputation of the fair. It would be unfair to point out any particular artist but I am very proud of Photo 21 which shows the work of twenty-one talented, unrepresented artist photographers."
How is this year’s fair bigger and better than ever before?
"It's bigger in terms of space: we have moved from Ambika P3 (14,000sq ft.) to the Old Truman Building (22,000sq ft.) This enabled us to work with 110 artists (ten more than the April fair) and create larger project spaces for our highlight features - taxidermy workshops and live 3D printing. We also have a fantastic bar hosted by Far Rockaway, a Garden Cafe and a Kids Create art trail. Finally the fair is co-locating with Moniker Art Fair which allows visitors to attend two fairs with just one ticket. My vision is to create a major satellite event in East London during London's Art Week."
The Other Art Fair takes place in the Old Truman Brewery this year, what has that added to the experience?
"Firstly, our move to Brick Lane after three fairs in Marylebone opens up the fair to a new area of London. I think the move will change the look and feel of the fair whilst still retaining its unique atmosphere. I'm most excited about it being our fifth fair and now having the understanding of what works and what doesn't. It is this understanding, more than the actual move, which enables me to improve the visitor experience."
Our ticket offer also relates to The Moniker Art Fair, what can Cass Art customers expect from this fair?
"The ethos of Moniker Art Fair echoes our own: in innovative ways, they support the work of artists and art organisations operating outside the traditional ‘art world’. Moniker Art Fair has its roots embedded in urban culture - visitors can expect 16 international galleries, a fantastic talks programme hosted by ex-Tate Curator Cedar Lewisohn, Iive screen printing by Jealous Gallery and art walks."
