Q What is charcoal used for?
A

Charcoal is a brittle drawing media that is dense in colour and easy to smudge. This smudging technique is used to create gradients and shadows and makes for a fast and hands on approach to drawing. Charcoal is particularly good for working on quick large scale drawings.

Q Is charcoal water soluble?
A

No, charcoal will not solute in water. However you can use turpentine to solute charcoal should you wish.
