Description

The Pentel GraphGear 1000 is a professional-quality automatic pencil with a brushed steel barrel and rubber pips which make it comfortable to hold and easy to control.

  • There's a push button to advance and retract the lead, preventing damage both to the pencil and to your pocket or bag, as well as a lead-grade indicator.
  • It also has the clever feature that both the lead and guide tube are fully retractable, so they won't break or make holes in your pockets, and each pencil has an eraser neatly stored in its cap.

The Pentel GraphGear 1000 Automatic Pencil comes with three Pentel Super Hi-Polymer HB leads.

Q&A (3)
Q What are these used for?
A

Mechanical pencils are used for technical drawings and for work where accuracy and precision is required. They do not need sharpening and use lead made to size which is pushed through the body of the pencil to use. This provides a consistent size marking.

Q What size lead shall I go for?
A

This will depend on what you are using the pencil for. Leads are measured by the width of the marking the lead will make. For example, a 0.5mm lead will draw a line that measures 0.5mm thick. Thus, if drawing on a smaller scale, a smaller size lead may be more appropriate. In terms of the grade of the lead, H stands for hard, and B stands for black. A H pencil will offer a lighter marking and a B pencil will offer a darker marking.

Q What material are the leads made of?
A

The leads for these pencils are made from graphite graded from H to B.

10th October 2016 Reviewed by Mark Renshaw This is my new workhorse pencil for sketching and drawing and is always with me.

Anyone wanting to use a mechanical pencil for sketching, drawing or technical work would likely feel this an upgrade on their current kit.

It is more expensive than other pencils I have owned, but feels far better built, has a nice weight to it and is very well balanced.
