CALL FOR ENTRIES: RWS OPEN - 10% OFF ENTRY FEES

Formerly known as the Contemporary Watercolour Competition (among many other names during the exhibition's 50+ year history), the RWS Open, sponsored by Cass Art, is the largest open-submission water-based-media exhibition in the world, attracting thousands of submissions nationally and internationally each year. Successful applicants in the early stages of their art career often consider exhibiting as a springboard to other successes such as forming relationships with collectors, gallerists and curators. Many exhibitors go on to become successfully elected Royal Watercolour Society Members.

The Society celebrates water-based-media in all its forms including ink, acrylic, gouache, tempera...the list goes on. For 2024 the RWS would like to invite artists of all backgrounds, at any stage of their career to submit works on paper in any (and all) water-based-media.

Works will be selected by a panel of judges which this year features Humphrey Ocean RA, Charles Williams PRWS, Suzy Fasht RWS and Barbara Nicholls RWS. Chosen pieces will be exhibited for 2 weeks at Bankside Gallery, next to Tate Modern, in March 2024, and prizes will be awarded at the exhibition Private View.

Submit your work online from Wednesday 11th October 2023 - Monday 8th January 2024
