The exhibition of the new series of paintings by Mary Swift, devoted to the birds, where birds are represented as persons with their individual characters and unique stories of their relationship with humans and with each other. Paintings that may be regarded as the bird’s portraits, including the famous ravens of the Tower of London, known by names, or distinguished magpies of Hampstead.
Mary Swift is a London based artist, working in realistic manner and traditional painting techniques with the strong illustrative element in her canvases. Her art is inspired by the English nature and heritage, coloured brightly in the spirit of celebration, and focused on the individuality of every object of interest for the artist, whenever it is a bird or a flower or a city scape. Mary comes from a family of artists , having classical art education with specialty in textiles and interior design, which lead her to creating a homeware collection, based on her paintings. Artist is also passionate about book illustration, while oil and acrylic painting being her main occupation.
