Description

This Derwent Charcoal Pencil Tin gives you all the versatility of traditional charcoal, but makes it easier to control and far less messy.

  • Derwent mix charcoal particles with the highest-quality clays, then encase them in wood to produce these smoothly textured Derwent Charcoal Pencils.
  • They're easy to sharpen to a point when you want to add fine details, but also give you smooth colour laydown when you want to create more dramatic effects.

The Derwent Charcoal Pencil Tin contains: one light, two medium and two dark charcoal pencils; one white pastel pencil for adding highlights; high-quality sharpener.

Q&A (2)
Q What is charcoal used for?
A

Charcoal is a brittle drawing media that is dense in colour and easy to smudge. This smudging technique is used to create gradients and shadows and makes for a fast and hands on approach to drawing. Charcoal is particularly good for working on quick large scale drawings.

Q Is charcoal water soluble?
A

10th October 2014 Reviewed by Jay Kay In the past, I have bought charcoal sticks and just found them so messy. These charcoal pencils reduce mess and increase use and function because they do not crumble therefore are not wasteful. What was even more helpful was that they came in light, medium and dark as well as a white pencil and sharpener. This set just made charcoal drawing a lot more efficient.

3rd July 2014 Reviewed by Helen Laishley The pencils are wonderful, but I was hoping that the sharpener would have fitted the pencil width and it doesnt. It just breaks the end of the pencil off before you can get a sharp point.
