Description

Wolff’s Broad Carbon Stick isn’t graphite or charcoal, but combines the smoothness and sharp lines of the first with the velvety richness of the second.

  • It’s also less likely to break or smudge. Use it for sweeps of black, quick sketching and adding texture.
  • Wolff’s Broad Carbon Stick can also be dissolved with water for washes.

Q&A (1)
Q What is charcoal used for?
A

Charcoal is a brittle drawing media that is dense in colour and easy to smudge. This smudging technique is used to create gradients and shadows and makes for a fast and hands on approach to drawing. Charcoal is particularly good for working on quick large scale drawings.

5th December 2017 Reviewed by John Hargreaves Excellent for larger scale works. Great depth of tone, but lacks subtle greys of compressed charcoal. Sounds good when being used. Larger blocks would be useful.
