Q&A (2)
Q What size lead shall I go for?
A

This will depend on what you are using the pencil for. Leads are measured by the width of the marking the lead will make. For example, a 0.5mm lead will draw a line that measures 0.5mm thick. Thus, if drawing on a smaller scale, a smaller size lead may be more appropriate. In terms of the grade of the lead, H stands for hard, and B stands for black. A H pencil will offer a lighter marking and a B pencil will offer a darker marking.

Q What material are the leads made of?
A

The leads for these pencils are made from graphite graded from H to B.

24th August 2016 Reviewed by Sheena Dempsey Nice, smooth, black lines, I use these leads for sketchbooking and for illustration layouts/roughs. They do snap a bit too easily but they are fine leads I guess. You can use them in the tikky/rotring pens too, which is handy because I find that the faber castell mechanical pencils break more easily.

23rd August 2014 Reviewed by Steve Gostling Packaged in a useful container which keeps leads safe in transit. Leads are good (& quite hard-wearing) in use and are dark and bold even at B grade- reasonably cheap too.
