EXHIBITION: MAKING CHANGE TOGETHER
28th Nov 2024
Creative engagement for equity and innovation in foetal monitoring research.
There is growing interest in digital tools to help clinicians predict newborn outcomes based on heart monitors during labour. However, there is a gap in how individual characteristics might influence these predictions. Women from the Global Majority, low socio-economic groups, and those facing multiple vulnerabilities are at increased risk of maternal and neonatal harm, poor care, and negative experiences. Also, they have remained underrepresented in health research.
This exhibition looks at an art-based, creative engagement approach where women acted as co-researchers, sharing their views and interests. The exhibition calls for urgent action to advance equity in perinatal care and research, and highlights the need to include diverse voices in digital health innovations so solutions truly address the needs of all women and their babies.
