‘Time to Bloom’ is a collaborative exhibition between friends, Lucy Freeman and Phoebe Stone, which celebrates their mutual love of colour, flowers and corners of their homes. Lucy and Phoebe met in Edinburgh, where they discovered their shared appreciation for textiles and art. Taking inspiration from each other, the two artists have created a set of harmonious still lifes which explore the joy of Spring, pattern and quiet moments. ‘Time to Bloom’ showcases a complementary body of work, with Lucy’s painterly embroidery style and Phoebe’s textured soft pastel pieces.

Lucy Freeman Design:

Lucy Freeman is a textile artist based in Edinburgh. Her work merges the traditional craft of embroidery with vibrant contemporary design, bright colour palettes and lush botanical imagery. She loves to push the boundaries of embroidery, using freestyle methods and large textured stitches in a bold painterly style. Often working on an impressive scale (her largest wall hanging is the size of a door) she has also developed an innovative method for framing embroidery within glass. Continually experimenting, Lucy creates textile artwork that is unexpected and exciting. Lucy became a full-time artist in the Summer of 2018 and has since worked with John Lewis, Liberty London, Not On The High Street, Mollie Makes and art galleries including The Hepworth. With a focus on the beauty of nature Lucy’s aim is to create unique artwork full of the joy that is hand-crafted and ethically made. lucyfreeman.co.uk

Phoebe Stone Art:

Phoebe Stone is a UK based artist living in Bristol. Her current focus is soft pastel still life drawings, which pay particular attention to texture, colour and composition, inspired by moments captured between her family’s cottage in Bath, and her home in Bristol. Phoebe’s compositions often pair together flowers, patterned fabrics, and antique ornaments, transforming everyday moments into unique and beautiful works of art. Phoebe has recently returned to Bristol after spending two years studying at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh. Phoebe is currently studying with the London Royal Drawing School, on the Online Drawing Development Year 2024. phoebestoneart.co.uk
