Description

From respected colour-maker Daler-Rowney, System 3 Heavy Body Acrylic Colour is a versatile range offering you good-quality acrylic colour at an excellent price.

The pigment-loading is greater than comparable ranges, increasing covering power, and both lightfastness (apart from fluorescents, as with other brands) and permanence are excellent.

It’s also quick-drying and can be thinned with water for washes, making it ideal for everyday use, particularly for work on large areas.

Q&A (5)
Q What series are these paints?
A

These paints are not priced in series numbers as they are beginner/student quality. In the interest of being cost effective, beginner/student quality paints are often made by mixing more economic pigments in order to create ‘hues’ that mimic more expensive pigment.

Q What brush should I use to paint acrylic?
A

The versatility of acrylic paint means it can be applied in various ways, using either brushes, foam, palette knives and even sponges. The best kind of brush to use depends on the desired outcome. A soft synthetic brush for example will work well for a smooth application of paint, whereas a hard bristled synthetic or hog brush will create a more pronounced brush stroke. Brushes with good ‘spring’ are ideal for use with acrylic paint as they have the strength required to lift the paint.

Q What are the benefits of painting acrylic as oppose to oil or watercolour?
A

All three types of painting offer very different experiences. Acrylic paint is a versatile media, available in varied forms and viscosities. It can be applied onto many different surfaces and with a variety of mediums, making experimenting with acrylic both easy and satisfying. It is also water mixable and fast drying, which presents the artist with a fuss-free approach to painting.

Q What surface does acrylic paint work best on?
A

Acrylic paint works best on cotton or linen stretched canvases or canvas board, as these will offer a resistant surface for thick/heavy applications of paint. If you are looking to paint on paper, a paper designed specifically for acrylic painting would suit best. However, theoretically speaking you can still paint directly onto any heavyweight paper as acrylic paint is water based and will not “sink” like oil paints might. Acrylic paint can also be painted onto surfaces such as wood, plastic, metal or brick, just so long as the surface is primed or prepared where suitable.

Q I see you have System 3 Heavy Bodied Acrylic on 'clearance sale' at a heavily discounted price. Not surprisingly all but two colours are out of stock. Does this mean that you will not be offering them again and certainly not at this price? Thank you.
A

These are the last few colours left and they won't be coming back in online. In the meantime we still have great offers on Liqutex heavy body.

25th April 2016 Reviewed by David Aldred Painting can be a hobby, or a living. For me it is a hobby, but how I would have liked to have been painting for a living. One thing that can be the same for both, is good quality.Good quality in making the paint, and then the quality of the artists, of whom there are plenty. So on that parrity buy quality and make quality yourself.

25th April 2016 Reviewed by David Aldred Sometimes I stand looking at the blank canvas, thinking ok that will go there, and this will go here, and then you start.Often you do not even think of the paint, for me it is because I know that another kind of artist has put this paint into this tube, and here I am sqeezing it out, mixing it and brushing it on.If you want that sort of expierience then buy this product, because I recommend it.
