Description

The Pro Arte Acrylix Painting Brush Round Series 202 comes with Pro Arte’s special Acrylix bristles, developed as a synthetic alternative to hog hair.

  • The bristles are firm yet flexible, with a silky texture they’ll retain even after lots of use.
  • They’re extremely durable and you can leave them standing in water without damaging them.
  • They’re a delight to paint with, last for ages and are also less expensive than hog hair, so it’s easy to see why they’re so popular with artists working in acrylics and oils.
  • The Pro Arte Acrylix Painting Brush Round Series 202 comes in a range of sizes to suit all purposes.

Q&A (4)
Q My brush has misshapen over time. How can I rectify this?
A

If your brush has misshapen, you can do so by soaking in boiling water and allowing brush to reshape. Please keep in mind that if your brush is resting on its bristles, this will affect its shape so take care when soaking. Should you wish to retain the point of your brush, you can do so by dipping in gum Arabic and reshaping. Make sure you leave your brush to dry fully before using after applying gum Arabic, as the medium could potentially change the effect of the paint you are using.

Q What are the benefits to using a synthetic brush as oppose to a natural hair brush?
A

The most obvious advantage is that using a synthetic brush is kind to animals, but synthetic brushes also tend to be more durable and longer lasting than a natural hair brush. Furthermore, synthetic brushes do not expand in water and tips of brushes also stay finer for longer. This can prove helpful when applying paint for fine detailing.

Q What are the benefits to using a natural hair brush as oppose to a synthetic brush?
A

Using natural hair for the bristles of a brush as oppose to using synthetic materials is a more traditional practice. Natural hair brushes tend to carry and hold more colour than a synthetic brush.

Q What can I use to clean these brushes?
A

This all depends on the kind of paint used. Synthetic bristles are quite robust and can be used with lots of different cleaning materials such as turpentine or solvent based paint brush cleaners. However, avoid using acetone based cleaners on synthetic brushes as this may affect the brushes longevity.

11th September 2015 Reviewed by Kate Follows I use this range in 00,0,1, so very small. Unlike some ranges, they do not have an irritating nylon bristle to keep their good shape.I can paint very fine details with these.I use acrylic paint as watercolour, but also from the tube.My brushes always take a battering and I expect to replace them often,so these are great value.

6th April 2014 Reviewed by Jo Addison Very tough little paintbrushes. I will use them for egg tempera on prepared surfaces but would be equally suitable for acryllic.

10th December 2013 Reviewed by Penny Streeter I find these brushes perfect for fine details in watercolours and acrylics. I prefer them to sable brushes for detailed work.If they are looked after properly they last very well.
