Q&A (5)
Q Can you please tell me the 6 colours in the set. Thank you.
A

The Winsor & Newton Watercolour Marker Set of 6 contains the following colours: Cadmium Yellow Hue, Sap Green, Prussian Blue Hue, Yellow Ochre, Ivory Black and Alazarin Crimson Hue.

Q What surface do watercolours work best on?
A

You can paint watercolour onto a variety of different surfaces. However, you want to aim to use paper that weighs either 300gsm or more. For more information about what paper we sell for watercolour, click here.

Q What are these pens used for?
A

Choosing one pen over another will depend on various factors such as the type of mark, surface, scale, type of ink and style of working. Watercolour pens have all the properties of watercolour, but in a handy pen format. These could be used consecutively with watercolour paints or on their own for a no-mess approach to the medium.

Q What are the differences between the nibs?
A

Felt tip pen nibs come in many different shapes and sizes. The most commonly used is the bullet nib. The roundness of the nib means the stroke will be the same at all times regardless of the angle the pen is held. A brush nib provides brushed strokes of colour not unfamiliar to the effect of using a paint brush and allows for versatility in the kind of marks you can create. Similarly, the chisel nib can be used for a variety of different strokes. Its flat end can be used for curved, thick or thin lines and is particularly good for blocking large areas with colour.

Q Are these pens waterproof?
A

No, the ink used for these pens is water soluble and will bleed if used with water.

17th May 2016 Reviewed by Andrea Jerome Lovely pens. There are some good tutorials on YouTube with ***. It took me a while to get them working as I wanted. The paper choice is VERY important. It needs to be top quality watercolour paper otherwise you can see the pen marks. Also use a synthetic brush. The more springy bristles get the paint moving better.

14th May 2015 Reviewed by Isabel Andreu I had heard about this product from a friend and wanted to try it myself. The pens as markers are briliant with different marks for each nib as expected. once you apply water any mark-making done goes as the colour runs entirely as watercolour.

31st January 2015 Reviewed by Rebekah Willis Excellent for filling in spaces. I use for lettering with a waterproof black art marker. Only rated good as the lines don't blend as smoothly as watercolour paints. Just being picky though - these are lovely!
