PRINTMAKING (LINOCUT) WORKSHOP

This hands-on linocut workshop introduces students to the traditional art of relief printmaking. The aim is to build their creative confidence while teaching practical skills in drawing, carving, and printing.
What students will learn and experience:
- The basics of linocut printmaking, including safe use of tools
- How to turn an idea into a bold design suitable for printing
- Step-by-step guidance through carving and inking their own linocut block
- The satisfaction of producing a finished artwork to take home or display
Learning outcomes:
- Understanding of relief printmaking techniques
- Improved hand–eye coordination and visual thinking
- A sense of creative achievement and increased artistic confidence
The workshop is led by Merve Kahraman, a contemporary artist and art teacher with over a decade of formal education in fine arts. She holds an Honours Degree in Art Education in Printmaking field and a Master’s Degree in Painting in Izmir/Turkey. Merve’s practice explores abstract and figurative forms through mixed media and printmaking, and her work has been featured in exhibitions such as the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2024.
