EXHIBITION: ESTUARINE
3rd Nov 2023
An exhibition of recent paintings by North Somerset artist Susannah Crook. Susannah’s inspiration is her local landscape….. the water, the rocks, the pebbles and the geological features of the Severn Estuary. Using natural earth, mineral and botanical pigments that, as much as she can, she forages for or grows, Susannah aims to represent the ebb and flow of our timeless and precious world. For Susannah working mindfully and intuitively allows for a deeper connection to the land. Walking, observing, gathering earth, grinding earth, making paint and then painting, inspired by that same landscape, is a grounding, cyclical and meditative process.
A former art teacher Susannah is now a full time professional artist living just outside Weston-super-Mare. She has exhibited throughout North Somerset as well as in Bristol and Bath and her work is in collections around the world. Susannah still enjoys teaching and will be leading a workshop at Cass Art Bristol on November 30th teaching how to make paint from locally foraged earth, find out more here.
