JAPANESE SUMI-E PAINTING WORKSHOP

Try out some Sumi-e painting using bamboo brushes in our accessible workshop led by local artist Ula Fung. This workshop will be split into multiple different sections, each section will begin with an introduction to the materials & demonstration from the teacher Ula, and each section will teach you how to paint a different topic which will help you to learn a variety of brush strokes and painting techniques. The first few sections will be painted onto Rice paper and the final painting will be painted onto a Rice Paper board, by that time you will be warmed up and armed with your newly learned techniques which you can combine to create your own final piece with. Usually you will paint botanicals such as Bamboo, Flowers, Landscapes and Animals.

Ula Fung is a local artist with over 15 years of teaching experience. Ula's studies were completed in Hong Kong, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine art and a Masters Degree in Visual Art. You can see some of her work at ulafung.com

Materials provided: Felt matts, Bamboo Brushes, Semi Ink and Chinese/Japanese colours plus more are provided.
