Q&A (3)
Q Why work on wooden panel as oppose to canvas?
A

Paintings on wooden panel are easier to conserve and offer a longer lasting and more rigid surface to paint on than canvas stretched on a frame. This hardness offers superior line control and support, and colour vibrancy is stronger as the colour reflects off the surface as oppose to absorbing into the weave of the canvas.

Q Hi Just looking at your selection of wooden panels, are they all 'hollow' like a regular canvas so I can hang them easily on the wall? I can see the sale item you am have is but they're out of stock. Many thanks, Leah
A

The cradled boards or boards with a depth will be hollow and easy to hang on a wall. We also stock these in most of our stores so you can give them a call to check if they are in stock and available.

Q which of your board can I use for encaustic work.
A

You can use this board but you will need to prime it first. Or you could use the Ampersand Encaustic Board. The Ampersand Encaustic Board is currently only available at our Islington & Glasgow stores.
