Description

These Pro Arte Prolene Synthetic Brushes are part of the high-quality Prolene collection of synthetic watercolour brushes.

  • They have incredibly soft fibres which feel closer than ever to natural sable, but with all the durability (not to mention the lower price) of a synthetic brush.
  • They’re a joy to paint with, and they’re beautiful looking too, with ferrules in gold plate and teak handles.
  • The Series 9A is the sword-shaped liner version of the Pro Arte Prolene Plus Synthetic Brush.
  • It’s perfect for creating long, very fine lines, and many artists recommend it for painting foliage.

The Pro Arte Prolene Synthetic Sword Shaped Liner Brush Series 9A comes in three sizes: small, medium and large.

Q&A (3)
Q My brush has misshapen over time. How can I rectify this?
A

If your brush has misshapen, you can do so by soaking in boiling water and allowing brush to reshape. Please keep in mind that if your brush is resting on its bristles, this will affect its shape so take care when soaking. Should you wish to retain the point of your brush, you can do so by dipping in gum Arabic and reshaping. Make sure you leave your brush to dry fully before using after applying gum Arabic, as the medium could potentially change the effect of the paint you are using.

Q What are the benefits to using a synthetic brush as oppose to a natural hair brush?
A

The most obvious advantage is that using a synthetic brush is kind to animals, but synthetic brushes also tend to be more durable and longer lasting than a natural hair brush. Furthermore, synthetic brushes do not expand in water and tips of brushes also stay finer for longer. This can prove helpful when applying paint for fine detailing.

Q What can I use to clean these brushes?
A

This all depends on the kind of paint used. Synthetic bristles are quite robust and can be used with lots of different cleaning materials such as turpentine or solvent based paint brush cleaners. However, avoid using acetone based cleaners on synthetic brushes as this may affect the brushes longevity.

18th February 2016 Reviewed by David Hennessy Great Brush and great price. I bought the large size and after it arrived, on inspection, I thought it would be was going to be too big for the kind of cables, foliage, branches ect.
Was amazed how versitile it can be and different line thicknesses it can achieve.
