For example, it starts to feel and behave like a watercolour when heavily thinned with water, allowing you greater freedom to play around and explore different painting styles.
At the other end of the scale, when used as a short paste without water for heavy impasto work for example, it tends to develop a consistency that is tackier than a normal oil painting would do, giving you more options to experiment with texture and style. In between the two extremes, water soluble oil paints tend to act like gouache, sharing the properties of both transparent watercolour and opaque oil paintings.
