Q&A (4)
Q Why work on wooden panel as oppose to canvas?
A

Paintings on wooden panel are easier to conserve and offer a longer lasting and more rigid surface to paint on than canvas stretched on a frame. This hardness offers superior line control and support, and colour vibrancy is stronger as the colour reflects off the surface as oppose to absorbing into the weave of the canvas.

Q What is Gessobord?
A

Gessobord is a wooden panel with a primed surface which offers a firm, archival surface for painting that will not yellow over time. This board has a slight grain, but can be sanded down should you prefer a smoother surface.

Q How many boards are in a pack?
A

These are sold as single units and not in packs.

Q Are these boards suitable for egg tempera?
A

These panels should be fine with egg tempera - the manufacturer, Ampersand, also recommends using egg tempera with their Claybord panels.
