Step into the mesmerising world of Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of 'floating ink' and the original paper marbling technique. In this hands-on printmaking workshop, you'll learn to coax ink across the surface of water, capturing breathtaking handmade prints that are entirely your own. No two prints are ever the same. This beginner art workshop is hosted by Vicki of VA Studio and takes place at Cass Art Liverpool a creative sweet shop for art lovers and one of Liverpool's most inspiring creative hubs for makers of all kinds. Vicki's passion for Japanese marble art was sparked at the celebrated Granby Workshop, Turner Prize winners in 2015, where she mastered the craft and created exquisite marbled prints. From there, she founded VA Studio, now a thriving space for Suminagashi, paper marbling, and innovative printmaking in Liverpool. Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or simply looking for a new creative workshop in Liverpool, this session is made for you. No experience necessary, just curiosity.
VA Studio is based at Aspen Yard. Vicki, a local artist, brings years of experience in illustration, printmaking, art, and jewellery manufacturing. She regularly hosts creative workshops at Cass Art and other venues, sharing her passion and expertise with participants of all skill levels.
