ABOUT GOLDEN ARTIST COLOUR

Golden Artist Colors began in the 1930s when Sam Golden joined his uncle's art supply store, Bocour Artist Colors, in Manhattan. The store became a hub for artists like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. There, Sam's curiosity led him to experiment with a new paint material – acrylics. After years of development, Golden launched the first artist acrylic paint, Magna, in 1949. He continued to refine acrylics for decades, eventually retiring in the 1970s. However, the lure of creativity was too strong, and Sam started Golden Artist Colors in 1980, operating from a barn in New York.
