Exhibition: Peacock in Full Display

Exhibition: Peacock in Full Display

23rd May 2025

This exhibition celebrates the peacock as a symbol of beauty, power, and empowerment. The delicately painted feathers highlight the bird’s elegance and refined beauty, while expressive splatter techniques convey its dynamic power. The sense of strength evoked by the splatters reflects the peacock’s symbolic significance in cultures such as Indian, Chinese, and Greek traditions, where it represents authority, vitality, and influence. The gold leaf’s reflective surface highlights the intricate feather details and enhances the bird’s striking presence. Its bold, metallic tones convey a sense of power, echoing the peacock’s cultural symbolism. Combined with vibrant colours and energetic splatter backgrounds, each painting becomes a radiant tribute to the peacock’s captivating beauty and symbolic strength.

Ria Kukadia is a self-taught artist specialising in bold, large-scale statement pieces that bring elegance, depth, and individuality into interior spaces. Ria's work is deeply inspired by nature, with a particular focus on the peacock—a timeless symbol of confidence, beauty, and refined self-expression. During travels in Malaysia, Ria spent time in bird sanctuaries closely observing peacocks in their natural environment, studying their intricate details, fluid movement, and striking presence. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, often requiring many hours of detailed work, with a strong emphasis on texture, colour harmony, and composition. Alongside this body of work, Ria makes commissioned pieces, including bespoke portraits of pets and animals, creating meaningful, personalised artworks that hold deep emotional value for the clients.
