Exhibition: Water and Colour
6th Jun 2025
Visit this atmospheric watercolour exhibition of minimalistic, simple, everyday objects – fruit, flowers, berries, and vegetables. Something that gives viewers light, grounded ease and simplicity in this complicated world! All artwork is for sale. In her watercolour paintings Jurga follows the ancient Japanese method of Sumi-e painting – where the aim is to show the essence of the object, the impression (not the semblance), to do with less. The blank white unpainted space in the paper is as important as the painted one. It is left for each of our imaginations to continue “painting”.
Jurga is a London based artist and tutor, who runs yearly watercolour painting retreats in Spain and Morocco. She started her official art journey at the Art Academy in Vilnius, Lithuania, where she gained a Masters of Art degree. After that she worked in the advertising industry as Creative director, also studying at the Sumi-e (Japanese ink painting and calligraphy) school of D.Doksaite. Jurga moved to London in 2004, where she now lives, creates, works and teaches. jurga.co.uk
