Mechanical pencils are used for technical drawings and for work where accuracy and precision is required. They do not need sharpening and use lead made to size which is pushed through the body of the pencil to use. This provides a consistent size marking.
This will depend on what you are using the pencil for. Leads are measured by the width of the marking the lead will make. For example, a 0.5mm lead will draw a line that measures 0.5mm thick. Thus, if drawing on a smaller scale, a smaller size lead may be more appropriate. In terms of the grade of the lead, H stands for hard, and B stands for black. A H pencil will offer a lighter marking and a B pencil will offer a darker marking.
The leads for these pencils are made from graphite graded from H to B.

Very good pencils. I have small hands and they're comfortable to use, very evenly weighted. Faber-Castell knocks it out the park again. The eraser is more decorative than anything. It's tiny, get another one. I don't think this product is for kids and I would be careful not to drop it |
