Developed in close collaboration with master pastel artists and proudly made in Switzerland, the Caran D’Ache Pastel Pencil range is a considered response to the needs of both amateur and professional pastel artists. With 84 colours to choose from, these pencils offer a less messy, more convenient alternative to traditional soft and oil pastels. Encased in cedar wood, each pencil contains a robust 4.7mm lead made from ultra-fine, water-soluble pigment that delivers exceptional lightfastness. Best used with pastel or grainy paper to fully reveal the richness of the pigments, the pencils are best sharpened with a blade rather than a standard sharpener. Their colour laydown can also be stabilised with a fixative for lasting results.
