Pastels

Pastels are used widely by professionals, hobbyists and children alike. Wonderfully immediate, they let you apply pigment straight onto a surface without a brush. Smudge or blend using your fingers and enjoy the vibrant colours alongside the dynamic effects of the pastel, whether you work with oil pastels, chalk, wax pastels or soft pastels. Don't forget that if you're using soft chalk pastels you'll need a fixative to preserve your finished work. With excellent brands like Sennelier, Rembrandt and Conte, you can be sure to master the colourful medium of pastels, whether you're a beginner, professional or young artist exploring colour for the first time.
