The exhibition explores the development of the artistic technique of metalpoint. From its beginnings in the Renaissance to its resurgence in the 19th century and its continued appeal today, discover how the technical challenge of the medium has inspired artists from Leonardo and Dürer to Otto Dix and Jasper Johns.
The accompanying publication examines the use of metal point over six centuries, in the work of artists ranging from Leonardo, Dürer, and Rembrandt to Otto Dix and Jasper Johns. The metal point technique has been used by master draftsmen since the Middle Ages to create some of the most beautiful and technically complex drawings in the history of art.
Derwent Artists Pencils
are the first colour pencil this prestigious British company ever developed. With a slightly waxy texture they blend beautifully and layer well.
