Description

Daler-Rowney Kandahar Drawing Ink Black is an Indian ink, ideal for illustration and design and for work in conjunction with watercolours.

Flowing easily, and producing a brilliant, rich black, it is lightfast, so will not fade, but unlike other drawing inks is not waterproof when dry.

Q&A (2)
Q Is this ink water soluble? I assume it is - but I wanted to check!
A

This ink is water-resistant and not waterproof, so it will be able to stand up to a degree of washes by not soaking by water.

Q Is this ink non toxic?
A

This has a low toxicity but can be iritating if in contact with skin for a long amount of time.

7th January 2017 Reviewed by Kickdrum I use a lot of black ink for collage and drawing. This seems to be as good if not better than my normal brand. I only wish it came in a larger size.

11th March 2015 Reviewed by cfmccormack I buy this for my adult drawing students' pen, ink and wash classes. It's the best black I've found yet, very rich and concentrated, and the 175ml size is a cost effective way of buying it.

In some ways it's useful that it's not a permanent ink

17th January 2015 Reviewed by Romaine Dennistoun romainedennistoun I am still getting to know the characteristics of this particular ink.
As someone who does a lot of drawing from life (wildlife), at the moment I am making studio trials as the weather is way too cold for field trips.
Would recommend it to anyone who is interested in pen and ink, who enjoys exploring different marks on paper.
