One-Day Oil Portrait Workshop

One-Day Oil Portrait Workshop

18th Jul 2025

Learn to paint the human face in this intensive, one-day workshop led by artist Martha Lamont. Working from either a mirror or a personal photograph, you will begin the day mastering facial anatomy and proportions through guided sketching. Martha will then demystify colour theory, teaching you how to confidently mix a rich, diverse palette of realistic skin tones. Working from dark to light, you will learn to layer oil paints to create depth and form. Whether you want to explore an expressive, creative style or refine your skills in realism, this supportive day class offers flexibility and guidance to elevate your painting practice, regardless of your current experience level.

Martha Lamont is a Bristol-based artist who brings over six years of diverse teaching experience with both adults and children to her workshops. She graduated from City & Guilds with an MA in Fine Art in 2023. Alongside creating her own work, Martha teaches specialised, skill-based workshops, mentors' artists 1:1 and runs weekly Online Painting Clubs. She also co-hosts The Healthy Artist podcast. Her broad teaching background and professional expertise ensure a supportive, enriching environment for artists of all levels.
