R&F Drawing Oils contain are wax-rich firm oil sticks with a harder formulation compared to their oil sticks to offer a smooth and portable drawing experience.
It contains linseed oil which will form a natural skin outside of the stick. It is recommended gently removing this prior to use. Unlike oil pastels, crayons, or chalk, R&F Drawing Oil sticks will dry to form a permanent, protective oil film, so no need for fixative.
Use a pencil or crayon sharpener (0.5in diameter), a razor blade, or simply draw on a piece of scrap paper. wiping the end of the R&F Drawing Oil with a tissue prior to use will ensure a more effortless drawing experience.
The size, shape and formulation (less oil, more wax) make R&F Drawing Oils ideal for play and practice, pairing well with your favourite sketchbooks, stretched canvases, and panels. For finished artwork requiring archival stability, it is recommended preparing your surface with gesso.
