A Moment of Calm – Traditional Chinese Brush Painting
8th Sep 2026
In this gentle introduction to traditional Chinese brush painting, participants slow down and reconnect with a centuries-old art using authentic rice paper, ink and mineral pigments. Each lesson starts with wellbeing tips, then learners will explore a classic theme of Chinese painting. Guided by the tutor, learners discover how to hold and control the brush, mix ink tones, and build mindful strokes — exploring both the free, expressive xieyi (寫意) style and the fine detail of gongbi (工筆) style. More than a painting class, this session is an invitation to experience a beautiful culture and nurture new perspectives. No prior experience needed. Guidance, inspirations and support will be provided to develop techniques tailored to each learner’s learning pace.
