Cass Art is proud to introduce the Derwent Art Prize to all the budding artists out there! The competition is hosted by Derwent, the world-famous pencil manufacturer, and it saw over 3,500 entries from 57 countries in its inaugural year in 2013. 2014 is set to be even larger!
The total prize money is £12,650 to give away to a selection of the most impressive artists. The main condition of the Derwent Art Prize is that your work must be created in pencil or a similar form, charcoal, pastel, graphite, water-soluble and coloured pencils. Come mid-September all short-listed submissions will be exhibited in the Mall Galleries, London and then another selection featured in December at the Pencil Museum in Cumbria.
Derwent champion the humble pencil and are offering a fantastic opportunity to be rewarded for working in what is undoubtedly the most essential medium for all creatives. Enter via the website (the deadline is 9th June) and review last year's entries. The Derwent Art Prize is open to all living British and international artists over the age of 18 years old, artists can even submit up to 6 pieces of work.
