Exhibition: Simplicity

Local artist Debbie Cheung is exhibiting at the Art Space, Cass Art Hampstead. She originally trained in fashion design and has experience working in the fashion industry. Over the years, Debbie has developed a sophisticated mixed-media practice. She is a passionate paper-maker and avid print-maker who enjoys weaving the textiles familiar to her from her time in the fashion industry into her highly tactile work.
Through her art, Debbie endeavours to give voice to a variety of delicate equilibria at play in the contemporary everyday: tradition and modernity, simplicity and exuberance, flux and stability. The textured, tangible nature of her work speaks to her determination to build bridges between things which seldom fully meet – especially the artwork and its viewer.
